For last few months I had huge problems with maintaining website and it took a long time to figure out how to deal with it.
There were three problems.
At some point when I started to upload new thumbnails - the same you will see in the sim or OpCenter - they didn't show up properly.
As a matter of fact, every single new one showed up as the one of the old ones, not related to repaint I wanted to show you.
One of the possible sources of this issue I considered web browser cached files. Unfortunately, cleaning data as well as testing three other browsers didn't help. I also contacted Weebly.com (the provider of website online builder and space I use to store www and all repaints). They tried to convince me that the issue is definitely on my end. Well, at the end I found out it is on their end, not mine. Website pages are getting too long and code gets literally bootlenecked. To be more specific, the issue appeared on page with 737-800 repaints, but also caused the showing proper thumbnails uploaded to other sub-pages.
It concerns again the page 737-800 and how long it became when it comes to scrolling. It made me almost impossible to add new elements in the builder and after doing it, every single time I had to wait about two minutes before page was refreshed.
Again, Weebly denied it has something to do with the www code from the template I use. That's right, I use template approved by Weebly, made by one of their subcontractors or employees.
Anyway, I resolved both issues by splitting the 737-800 sub-page to two separate ones. One will contain repaints with brands where starts between "A" and "M" letter. The second one will have all repaints between "N" and "Z". I hope the problem won't appear again, at least not in the close future because due to the refresh problems it took me two days to make these two pages.
Please notice, the links from blog posts I made until today won't work anymore. To access all download links, simply hover the mouse to "Downloads" in top bar menu to see all categories. I attached a screenshot of the list below.
Download links in respective categories should work just fine.
Months ago I started to have another issue, this time with downloading backup data of the website. Current amount of data stored on the page oscillate in 15-16GB which is quite huge. To make sure the backup file won't be corrupted, I always used a download manager which had ability to pause and un-pause the download process in any moment. Using this manager I was also able to download the file with maximum speed of my ISP. However, Weebly decided to close the possibility of using download managers. Moreover, they decided to drastically cut the speed limits you as my visitor will use to download repaints. They also decided to NOT inform me about that. While cutting the speed limits is a ridiculous move in 2019, we can still live with that these are relatively small files with ~20-30 of MB. But with the backup files it is a different story. For week I wasn't able to download it at all with web browser because they did cut the connection after few hours, even tho I didn't download the entire file yet. And that was not possible with speed of 100-150KB/s.
After opening the support ticket with Weebly, they kept telling me that the issue is (once again) on my end. It isn't and even tho I proved it to them, they tried to convince me it's not their fault. After several emails I sent them where at the end I said if they won't fix it, I'm stopping imiditelly using their products, they partially fixed the issue. I can download the backup file finally, although with this ridiculous slow speed.
Now piece of advice when it comes to Weebly and their paid services - Just stay away from them.
tTheir support forum is full of complains about the speeds, about the access to the files and so on... hundreds if not the thousands of complains, many not addressed or even without any reply from Weebly team. They do not give a shit about it, they always try to blame You, a customer for every single issue you have with their service and as long as you have no knowledge, no support from person who can diagnose the problem on your end properly, you are screwed.
To make it even worse, when having conversation with several people from their support team, including some managers, I got the feeling they have no fucking idea what they are talking about and that they have problems with reading and understanding what someone is writing to them. Sure, my English isn't perfect and I'm aware of this fact but it's good enough to write a message where I describe in details technical issues I have, what I have done to diagnose the source of it, etc. Their replies, especially initial ones I could describe as one of the most unprofessional I have ever seen. Our conversations where like me calling the car mechanic just to say I have a problem with the engine which doesn't start and in reply I got "you have bad tires". On such of level were these emails.
What next? I don't know what will happen in future with the website. Subscription is paid till December of 2020 so I still got plenty of time for thinking if I will keep the website in current form here on Weebly or not. Definitely not if some new issues will appear again. Building completely new site is a no-go for me because I have no skills in writing a www code, neither I have a time to learn how to do it, especially with so many elements. Another online builder? The advantage amount of space on the server I could use when compared to similar providers was always an advantage here on Weebly, same when it comes to drag-and-drop functionality. I'm not sure how I will solve this in the future, maybe I will all repaints to other hosting and here I will keep only link redirecting to files. Time will tell...
